Let’s get to know each other…
Most of us don’t pay attention to politics but politics sure pays attention to us! Just about everything we do, and the things that are done FOR us, is related to political decisions. You need to know the people that are making these decisions and make sure they are the people you trust with those decisions. Get to know the people that represent your voice!
I have lived in Montana for almost 34 years and have loved every second of my life here. I’ve met the most incredible and kind people since moving here. As a child I used to dream of living in the mountains and somehow life’s circumstances led me to Ravalli County in 1990.
I grew up in Georgia in a normal (some might argue that) two parent family with two siblings. My mother was a school teacher and later a school counselor and my father worked for the Coca Cola company. I was the youngest of the three and other than my siblings trying to make me die, life was good!
I come from a long line of veterans. My father served in the Army in Korea and World War II, my brother in the Army in Vietnam and our son in the Navy from 2007 until 2012. I had various uncles that served in the military as well.
I graduated from college with a degree in Dental Hygiene and practiced for 38 years with 33 of those years in Montana. I worked in the same office for 30 years right here in Ravalli County. I retired from that career in December of 2023. In addition to that career, I started a part time business called Love2Shoot Firearms Training. It started as a way for women to get firearms training from a woman and grew more than I could have imagined! I teach men and women the basics as well a concealed carry. Word of mouth has grown my business for me and it could easily become a full time job. In May of 2023, the local news station did a feature story on my business and it became even busier after that!
I am also a competitive shooter in USPSA. I serve on the board of Whittecar Rifle and Pistol Range in Hamilton.
I am married to Kurt Love and between us we have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Family is very important to us and although none of our children live close, it gives us a good excuse to travel to see them.
I was asked to join an organization in 2019 called The DC Project, now known as Women For Gun Rights. It is women from every state that work and advocate for 2nd Amendment issues in Washington DC as well as in each state. There are those that would like to dilute and destroy our 2nd Amendment rights and it is important to know the current issues as well as have a voice in protecting this right. Having connections to women in all 50 states has given me the opportunity to keep up on current events all over the country.
I am a Christian, Constitutional Conservative. I believe in the original intent of the Constitution and that all laws should be crafted within the boundaries of the Constitution. I believe in the separation of powers of the three branches of government. If we want to make our Country and State great again then we must remember what made them great in the first place and return to those principles. We need to elect representatives that will do that. We need to reform the judiciary and elect judges that will act constitutionally and within their powers as outlined in the Constitution.
I think that all legislation should be judged by the following criteria:
Is it Constitutional? If so, should we be doing it now?
What is the cost? (more taxes or fees, loss of freedom and rights?)
Does it grow government? We all know that when government grows we pay the price.
Does it give power to the government or the people?
Does it protect our citizenship or give rights to non citizens?
Does it protect our children?
We are not the best we’ve ever been. We need to ask ourselves why. The course we are currently on is not working and I believe we have lost our way. At some point we must re-evaluate what we are doing and change course. I would like to be a part of that change by representing you
We need Representatives that will protect our rights and offer solutions.
Sometimes it is hard to find the balance between protecting your rights while finding solutions to todays problems. I think that first and foremost we must align our thinking and legislation within the confines of the Constitution.
Let’s make a difference together…
Each one of us has a part to play in the preservation of our nation, state and county. I used to pray for somebody to speak out, to stand up and defend our liberties……then I realized I AM SOMEBODY. You are somebody too.
Get involved where you are and at whatever level you can. Sometimes it’s the small things that make the biggest difference.
For other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection. But with Montana, it is love.
